Homelessness Prevention & Housing Supports

MBHP’s Homelessness Prevention and Housing Supports Department includes many programs, activities, and resources. These initiatives are funded by public contracts and private grants and donations, and help low-income renters to achieve housing stability and better lives.

The key to ending homelessness is to prevent it from happening. If you are at-risk of eviction, or need information about fuel assistance, money management, job training, food stamps, Transitional Aid to Families with Dependent Children (TAFDC), or other resources, please call our Housing Consumer Education Center at (617) 425-6700.

Homelessness Prevention and Housing Supports Programs include:

Housing Consumer Education Center – including a drop-in center for one-on-one support and referrals, telephones and computers, newspapers, workshops, publications, and mediation services.

Residential Assistance for Families in Transition (RAFT) - a state-funded program which prevents homelessness by providing funds and support necessary to allow low-income families to stay housed or move into their next homes. Please note - No RAFT funds currently are avaiable.
